Odds 'n ends a little bit of politics, a little bit of fun

A wedding, an assassination, the Padres are on a streak - 2 wins in a row!!! Tornadoes wreaking havoc; gas prices hitting the roof
Budgets unbalanced; Dems and 'Pubs still at it - refusing to grow up and act like responsible representatives of the citizenry
Family doings: granddaughter getting married; grandsons playing varsity baseball, running track, graduating from SDSU - and that's just some of it!
Weather's turning nice here - wish it would be nice everywhere: no tornadoes, earthquakes and such.

A poem... Another poem... Mind Gate Do You? The mind fills What a shell With what you will surrounds me. ... and other things. And you. What you will comes in freely Open Gate. And everyone else.
What you won't isn't welcome Trying to be what we aren't, Shut Gate. and hiding what we are.
...and other things slip in unnoticed Sometimes do you Through the gate. try to get out of your shell?

About those umbrellas... from Rita Micklish in El Cajon, CA
One factor in the Saga of the Umbrella: We seldom need them. This creates a strange paradox. So they gather dust in the dark recesses of closets. They sit unappreciated for years. Never unfaithful, they are always there, their original bright colors still vibrant since they seldom unfurl. But comes a strange sound, a thumping on the roof. A native San Diegan glances up from the tv. "Ah, doves have landed." There there is a strange silver trickle down a window pane. Did yon dove poop??? Oh, good heavens, could it be rain? Quick- reach for something to shield you from that strange stuff.. Damn, it is in here somewhere.... Now where did I stuff that blasted thing? There! Grab, push dusty button, stand back while it expands.... No? Shake it. Expanding? No... Cuss. Bang it on the edge of the closet door. Expanding? No. Silence. Rain gone? You betcha. Thanks, Rita!
